The importance of nutrition
Whether you are dealing with gut health concerns, fatigue, hormonal changes, or simply want to understand your body better, nutrition therapy can offer practical, evidence-based support tailored to your individual needs. Many people arrive having tried multiple approaches without lasting results. A personalised nutrition plan, grounded in your unique biochemistry, is often the missing piece.
Nutrition is more complicated than it looks. Low energy, persistent bloating, hormonal imbalances, or weight that won't shift can all have roots in what and how we eat, yet general dietary advice rarely gets to the cause. That's where a qualified nutritional therapist makes a real difference.
At The Broad Street Practice in Stamford, Louise Cunliffe is a qualified Naturopathic Nutritionist offering personalised nutrition therapy for adults across Lincolnshire and the surrounding area. Unlike generic diet plans, naturopathic nutrition looks at the whole person, considering your health history, lifestyle, digestion, sleep, and stress levels, to build a plan that genuinely fits you. Louise combines nutritional therapy with naturopathic guidance on supplements and natural remedies, giving you a broader toolkit for supporting your health.
What does nutritional therapy involve?
What to expect....
Prior to a nutritional consultation with Louise, you will be asked to fill out a detailed health questionnaire and a 3-day food diary. The initial consultation will start with an in-depth chat about your current health status, focusing on your specific complaints whilst building a background of your historic health issues to date, including diet and lifestyle.
From this information she will aim to identify nutritional, diet and lifestyle factors that could be contributing to the symptoms and health conditions that you are experiencing. In the second meeting you will leave with a personalised, safe and practical nutrition and lifestyle plan, with healthy new recipes that are evidence-based, and tailored towards your own individual requirements. Louise may also recommend supplements and/or functional tests if she feels these could be beneficial, perhaps to assess if you’re deficient in any vitamins and minerals.
A follow-up appointment is recommended, usually 3-4 weeks later. In the follow-up Louise will work with you to assess your improvement and tweak the plan depending on how you are responding. The number of follow-ups required is totally dependent on your own needs and speed of recovery. Flexibility is the key here and Louise will happily help and guide you towards your goal of optimal health, energy and happiness.
Who Is Nutritional Therapy For?
Nutritional therapy is not just for people with diagnosed health conditions. Louise works with a wide range of clients, from those managing a specific concern to people who simply want to feel better day to day.
You might benefit from a consultation if you:
- Suffer with digestive issues
- Experience bloating, irregular digestion or discomfort after eating
- Are going through hormonal changes such as perimenopause or PMOS or other hormonal imbalances
- Struggle with skin conditions like eczema, acne, or persistent dryness
- Want support with weight management without following a restrictive diet
- Have been told your blood sugar, cholesterol, or thyroid levels need attention
- Feel tired despite getting enough sleep
- Feel anxious, low in mood, or find your energy crashes through the day
- Are preparing for pregnancy or want to support your health postnatally
You do not need a referral from your GP and you do not need to have a formal diagnosis. Many of Louise's clients arrive confused by conflicting nutritional advice that they have received, particularly with regard to various supplements/dietary changes without a clear plan.
Nutritional therapy pairs well with other treatments available at The Broad Street Practice. Contact our reception team to find out more or to book an appointment with Louise.
