Pelvic health physiotherapy is now available at Broad Street Practice, but what on earth is pelvic health physiotherapy?

The best description I have ever heard for this specialist area of my profession of 25 years is “everything from nipples to knees”! That is actually not strictly true, I also treat people recovering from breast cancer with painful scars, stiff shoulders and cording. However, you get the idea!

My main focus is helping both men and women with pelvic problems from a variety of causes.

For women, these tend to be:

  • Pregnancy-related aches and pains
  • Postnatal recovery including c-section scars
  • Pelvic floor weakness or prolapse
  • Bladder pain syndrome
  • Bladder and bowel incontinence
  • Chronic constipation
  • Pain with intercourse
  • Core weakness and abdominal separation
  • Pelvic pain
  • Perimenopause and Menopause
  • Pain and sexual problems following treatment for gynaecological cancers

I don’t leave the men out of my clinics either, having completed the legendary Bill Taylor’s Men’s Health course, I can also see men suffering with:

  • Pelvic pain
  • Post-prostate cancer concerns
  • Incontinence
  • Chronic constipation or faecal incontinence
  • Bladder pain syndrome

For both women and men, these issues are incredibly common, but they’re not something you have to “just live with”. Sadly even in 2026, they are still very taboo subjects in our society leading so many to suffer in silence or adapt their lives around debilitating symptoms.

With the right assessment and treatment, pelvic health physiotherapy can make a real difference to comfort, confidence and quality of life.   “ I had no idea that physios did this” (often accompanied by a furtive sideways glance!) is something I hear most days in my pelvic health clinics. It’s true, physios get everywhere, including pelvic floors!

The pelvic floor are powerful muscles and need rehabilitation when not working at their best, just like any other muscle in the body.

Keep an eye on this blog for more information on what I get up to day to day, and how I might be able to help you.

I’m delighted to be bringing pelvic health physiotherapy to the Broad Street Practice in Stamford. I want to take the time to hear your story and goals for moving forwards. Whether you’re looking to return to exercise, improve symptoms, or simply understand your body better, treatment is always tailored to you. I see patients at Broad Street Practice on alternate Fridays and one Saturday morning per month. If you’re not sure whether pelvic health physio is right for you, a conversation is often the best place to start. Early advice and treatment can help prevent symptoms from worsening and support long-term recovery.

Appointments are now available — please get in touch to arrange your consultation.
